In Britain, touring cars racing has been
around since the early 1950's, when it was known simply as saloon
car racing. Enthusiastic club racers took to the circuits in
their cars to see who was best. Now a days the
British Touring Car Championship
is a series for highly-tuned saloon cars that still bear a strong
visual resemblance to their
road-going counterparts. This
year top class
drivers like Yvan
Muller, Matt Neal, Jason Plato and James
Thompson have remained, however, along with the return of the
legendary Steve Soper.
A secondary Production class, based on modified road cars, ensures
the grids should be packed to give an added dimension to the
series.
